Alana Estate Martinborough Riesling 2003 (sc) A dry style with abundant steely citrussy flavours with hints of lemon meringue over lemon and lime and a crisp, zingy, long finish. Clean and fresh. Just starting to pick up some oiliness. 12% alc. 6.2g/l rs. 8.8g/l TA. 19Oct2004.
Allan Scott Marlborough Riesling 2003 Light gold in colour, apples, lemon blossom and the earthy character of lime on the nose carry through to palate where terrific acidity balances the sweetness of this off dry wine. I found it very pure with good length but perhaps overall just a little one dimensional, perhaps lacking the warmth and richness of the Spy Valley beforehand. 13.5% alc. $17.95. 21Apr2004.
Amisfield Rocky Knoll Riesling 2003 (sc) Straw gold. A little earthy on the nose smelling like wet potter's clay, it seems incredibly sweet at first, then the acid hits to balance the sugar. It's juicy, juicy, juicy with lots of apple, mandarin and lemon honey and finishes a little like lime cordial, though with much more substance. Babich Marlborough Riesling 2003 (sc) Rich, pungent, dry smelling, a little Aussie-like with fusel characters on the nose. Nicely developed aromas but it seems a little tired on the palate. Honey and citrus. Straight up and down. 12% alc. $19.95. 11Apr2005.
Borthwick Wairarapa Riesling 2003 (cork) Steely, lemons, limes, dry, honeyed, good palate weight and builds up well on the finish. Dry and salivating. A shellfish wine. 12% alc. ***1/2. 8Dec2003.
Burings of Martinborough Dry Riesling 2003 Quite subtle on entry, good build-up in palate with melon and citrus enhanced by hints of muscat and botrytis. Twintop cork. 13.5% alc. ***1/2. 8Dec2003.
Burnt Spur Aperitif Riesling 2003 Sweet, spicy, fresh and vibrant, luscious without being cloying, with lovely richness and mouthfeel. I like it very much - it delivers what it sets out to do - simply a delicious, aperitif style of fruity Riesling. 13Oct2003.
Canterbury House Good Times Riesling 2003 - Waipara A sweeter style with honey, limes, citrus blossom and ginger spice, it is fresh and slightly spritzy on the tongue when the tartness of the acidity comes through on finish to balance the sweetness. Juicy lime and mandarin flavours linger on the honeyed finish. Value summer drinking and it can be chilled to the bones. 12.5% alc. $12.95. 24Nov2004.
Clifford Bay Single Vineyard Marlborough Riesling 2003 (sc) Watery pale. Smells of pears and apples, I though it was Pinot Gris at first. Apples, limes and citrus in the palate, a touch of honey with fuller flavours like dates on the finish. Off dry. Lacks the exuberant zestiness I was expecting. 13% alc. $18.95. 3Mar2004.
Coney 'Ragtime' Martinborough Riesling 2003. It smells of sweet fruit, very appealing on the nose delivering in the palate what it promises - sweet tropical fruit with a ripe citrus (mandarin) core and a spicy backbone. 13Oct2003.
Dry River Craighall Riesling 2003 (cork) Pale with tints of gold. Clean, lemon, lime, some spices and a sweet floral character on the nose. A very delicate wine, a little grainy in texture, it builds in power in the palate to flourish with a touch of honey on the finish. Good length and powerful aftertaste. This is a wine that clearly needs time. The next day it shows more what it will evolve into - it's full of steely acidity, lime juice, lemon leaf, citrus blossom, earth and honey with a delicately spicy finish that titillates with ginger, white pepper and faint hints of musk then a strong steely citrus finish that's like pure lime juice. It's much drier than I expected with excellent persistence but how I wish I'd left it a year or so to let evolve before opening. Like all Dry River rieslings, this is going to be absolutely beautiful with time. But time is the key. 11% alc. 7Dec2003.
Drylands Marlborough Dry Riesling 2003 A very dry, steely, citrussy wine with a bright golden hue, a spicy mid palate and a zesty, citrus peel finish. Slightly oily with a long and full finish and a touch of lime curd as it lingers. 13% alc. $19.95/$15.95. 13Jul2005.
Esk Valley Hawkes Bay Riesling 2003 (sc) Tasted 6 days after bottling, this is a really steely wine with lots of lemon acidity first up, but it becomes really really juicy with mandarin flavours taking over. Slightly pithy, it's clean and refreshing with good palate weight. There's a nice touch of honey and lime marmalade on the finish. 7Aug2003.
Felton Road Block One Riesling 2003 (sc) Very pale lemon, intensely aromatic, alluring with its apple and honey scents, it's got tons and tons of acidity like a lemon and honey drink, like a grapefruit breakfast drink, it's rich, sweet, honeyed and refreshing with lingering spiced baked apples. Terrifically balanced, sweetish but not too sweet, it's so refreshing. Every time you taste it you'll find something different. If you like this style of unadulterated, low alcohol, sweetish Riesling, this is one of the best. 9% alc. $30.95. 3Dec2003.
Felton Road Dry Riesling 2003 Very pale in colour. Richly aromatic with floral scents joined by lemon and honey and just a hint of wet wool. Wonderfully crisp and racy in the palate with citrus, apples and ginger on a steely, stony, minerally backbone. The 8grams per litre of residual sugar balances the acidity and adds some sweetness. Very pure with a nice grainy texture, it evolves as it sits in the glass and the finish is long. pH 2.85. 11.0% alc. Blair considers this an 'earlier drinking' wine. About $26.95. 4Mar2004.
Fiddlers Green Waipara Riesling 2003 Lime yellow, fruity and aromatic, perfumed and floral with pears, sugared feijoas and citrus on a fruit juice texture, it's a little spicy with talc, flowers and rose petals on the finish. A lovely pure Riesling in the off-dry style than Waipara does so well. A Riesling heading towards gewurz with an air of pear-like Pinot Gris. Star potential. 12.5% alc. $19.95. 3Dec2003.
Forrest Estate Marlborough Riesling 2003 Pale lemon, smelling of flowers and lemon drops it's a medium style with lemon, lime, apple and honeysuckle, just a little earthy with a lightly perfumed, floral and tropical fruit finish. This wine has lovely balance and the sweetness of the wine would be perfect with glazed ham on Christmas Day. 12.5% alc. $15.95. 10Dec2003.
Framingham Dry Marlborough Riesling 2003 (sc) Excellent style of dry riesling, earthy, a little pithy with slightly fusel notes that show it is starting to head into a developed phase. Lovely weight and concentration and a long, dry, limey, slightly tropical fruited finish. 11.5% alc. 5.5g/L rs. 7.9g/L TA. $26.95. Top pick. 15Sep2004.
Framingham Select Marlborough Riesling 2003 (sc) Like a freshly squeezed lemon and sugar drink, this seems very light at first without much substance, but of course it does have substance. It has the purity of lemon and lime with so much acid you really have to be in the mood. Made in an Auslese style with impeccable balance of acidity to the natural sweetness of the late harvested grapes. 45 cases made. 8.3% alc. $35. 17Jun2004.
Fromm La Strada Marlborough Riesling 2003. Water pale with just a tinge of straw. Earthy lemon on the nose, sweet lemon and mandarin, honey and apples in the palate. This has lovely purity and tons of acidity, fills out very well and has great length. Just a touch of sweetness on the finish. Quenching. Moreish. Made by Hatsch Kalberer, an icon of NZ winemakers. 8% alc. $29.95. 2Apr2004.
Gladstone Wairarapa Riesling 2003 (sc) Showing light golden hues that hint to some development, the taste shows some development too. A lovely backbone of crisp limes, sweet tangelos, honey, flowers and ripe tropical fruit make for a lovely mouthful of flavoursome Riesling that is drinking very well now. Though there are hints of botrytis in the wine that add richness, the lovely clean acidity of the citrus fruit lingers. 3.6 g/L rs. 13% alc. 24Sep2004. Top pick.
Gibbston Valley Central Otago Riesling 2003 (sc) Milkshake lollies on the nose together with delicate, floral scents. Bubblegum when cold with tropical fruits and tangelos. Off dry and quite an appealing style. Sweet finish with lingering citrus. I'd want to recommend this to my readers. When it warms up it has a muskiness to it that I like. There's an earthy underlying character too. The finish goes on and on. 12% alc. 18.5/20. Chilled Wine Tasting - 6Dec2003.
Giesen Marlborough/Canterbury Riesling 2003 (sc) Fruity with hints of honeysuckle on the nose, sweet lemons and mandarins fill out the palate with a touch of marmalade on the fruity finish. A light, easy drinker, with a long lingering flavoursome finish, it's off-dry (20 g/litre residual sugar) and would also suit chilling. 11.5% alc. $17.95. 20Aug2003.
Greenhough Nelson Dry Riesling 2003 Earthy citrus and blossoms on the nose, this is a very pure dry riesling with definite earthy, lime and floral citrus characters continuing into the palate, it's still slightly yeasty and has some unfolding to do but the potential is surely there. Good wine, with a full, powerful finish. 6gms/l rs,12% alc. 11Nov2003.
Grove Mill Marlborough Riesling 2003 Very pale in colour though over a year after harvest. Zesty, slightly more oxidative style on the nose, I can see this developing 'kero' hints with age. Searingly tart acidity on the first taste, it is quite crisp and citrussy with a lashing of steely lime juice on a talc-like texture with rich acidity to balance the hidden sweetness and tropical fruit flavours that emerge on the finish. Excellent length with a hint of toastiness creeping in on the citrussy aftertaste. Looks like this will be one that will cellar well. Definitely a seafood wine – match to fish that you would serve a wedge of lemon with. (4) 11% alc. 14 g/L rs. 7.9 g/L TA. 14Aug2004.
Isabel Dry Riesling 2003 (cork) Floral, yeasty, buttered toast, lemon musk. Chalky texture, off dry, honey, blossoms, then a delicate lime flavour. It's a little hot, spicy, zesty, peppery than wanes nicely to leave a delicate honeyed lingering citrus flavour. A little timid on entry, subtle attack, good length. 13% alc. 17/20. Kaimira Estate Nelson Riesling 2003 (sc) Straw gold with citrus and honeysuckle on the nose, it's wonderfully fruity and refreshing with lemons, limes and tropical fruit salad. It's spicy, zesty and full of crisp citrussy and sherbet flavour balanced with a dash of honey. It's just off dry and the powerful fruit finish lingers well. Just off dry. 12.5% alc. 10Sep2003.
Koura Bay Barney's Rock Awatere Riesling 2003 A sweeter style with a botrytis influence. It lacks the balance and crispness of the other wines tasted alongside it, but it is a year older and it does have a cork closure. 11.5% alc. 8g/Lrs. 7g/L TA. $16.95. 15Sep2004.
Johanneshof Riesling 2001 (cork) It's a little dull and flat on the nose but in the palate it's a full rich riesling with some developed characters, limes tending to coconut, green lime leaves, a creamy texture, sweeter and a touch of tropical fruit, loquat.. Has this had malolactic? Seems to have some unneeded interference. White musk on the finish. ?? cork taint. Parts of this wine I like. But not the nose. 12% alc.15.5/20. Johanneshof Marlborough Riesling 2003 (D) Quite a rich gold. Perfumed with nectar, melon, candied citrus and an underlying earthiness.. This is Alsace in style - dry, rich, full-bodied, creamy - like Riesling on steroids - some botrytis, a buttery backbone, stonefruit sweetness with citrus on the finish otherwise playing a minor role. Very dry finish, makes the lips very dry - the richness of the wine covering up that suggestion of astringency very well. An intriguing smoky character and a suggestion of lemony herbs. Like the balance of sweetness, creaminess and tartness (though hardly tart). Dangerously drinkable. Very good. Silver. 12.5% alc. 6.3 g/l rs. $21.00. 26Jan2010.
Lake Chalice Riesling 2003 (sc) Wow! This wine smells great. It's got lovely a floral honeysuckle fragrance and in the palate some really juicy orange, mandarin, white pepper and ginger then a core of lemon on the finish. A cool summer has accentuated the aromatics really well. I like the suede texture and the earthy stoniness in this zippy, zingy, zesty wine that finishes dry and moreish. 24Jul2003.
Lawsons Dry Hills Riesling 2003 (sc) Good acidity, rich riesling, just off dry, core of lemon, fresh, vibrant. 9Oct2003.
Main Divide Canterbury Riesling 2003 (sc) From selected vineyard sites at Waipara, Swannanoa & Burnham, medium sweet with concentrated citrus on a weighty thick texture, zesty, slightly spritzig on the tongue, lingering spiced apples, honey, and ginger on the finish. Tasty. Pushover wine, everyone loved it, it sells on reputation. 9% alc. $16.95. 7Jul2004.
Martinborough Vineyard Jackson Block Riesling 2003 (sc) Bright, zingy and spicy, this is a lovely dry riesling with lots of potential as a terrific zest summer wine. So terrifically balanced and very appealing indeed. 13Oct2003.
Martinborough Manu Riesling 2003 (sc) Sweet lemon candy on the nose on this sweeter styled wine. Lovely palate weight, texture, balance and flavour with honey, flowers, spice, raisins and just a touch of botrytis. A lovely sweet style, best when chilled. 12.5%. 28gL rs 18.5/20. Melness Riesling 2003, Canterbury and Waipara (sc) Straw gold in colour. Fresh and steely to the palate after the previous wine, it’s got a ton of acidity which makes it extremely zesty. Youthful with a slightly grainy texture and a touch of botrytis leading into a sweet, full, luscious finish. Terrific mandarin sweetness & zest on the long persistent finish. A wine that will clearly age. 9% alc. $24.95. 30Mar2004.
Millton Opou Riesling 2003 – Gisborne Deep golden, honey beeswax aromas, sweet to the taste with apricots, ripe tangelo, mandarin and passionfruit, some viscosity to the texture, lemon and white honey flavours linger. Beautifully balanced it can only become more honeyed with age. Made from some of the oldest Riesling vines in NZ, planted in 1969. 12% alc. $22.95. 25Aug2004.
Montana Reserve Marlborough Riesling 2003 (sc) With quite overt petrol nuances on the nose, this is a fat, rich, reasonably dry style with an oily richness to the texture, tropical and citrus fruits and a biscuity, toasty, full-bodied finish with complexity and lasting flavour. Aged two years prior to release, there's a firm seam of acidity underpinning the wine that adds crispness to the finish. Brancott Estate fruit. 13% alc. $19.95 19Aug2007.
Morworth Canterbury Riesling 2003 (c) Quite tight with lots of lemon acidity and just a little hard when first opened, it had markedly improved the next day. The spritzy acidity of the apple, lemon and lime fruit profile is quite bitey and it is an overall drier wine than the 2002 version without that wine's palate weight or length. 12% alc. $19. 12Jun2004.
Mount Maude Dry Riesling 2003 Dry, earthy and lemony, crisp and fresh with some weightiness to the palate and a dry, lighted, slightly oily finish. A wine that will develop some fusel notes with time. 11.5% alc. 3.0 g/L rs. 5Oct2004.
Mt Difficulty Single Vineyard Long Gully Riesling 2003 (sc) Light gold in colour and a "wow" evoking aroma – full on aromatically fruity nose filed with citrus peel, apricots and a touch of honey leading into a full flavoured late harvest fruit flavour. Honeyed citrus, stonefruits, a layer of beeswax and the lingering of juicy tangelos that have been sweetened with sweet wine. Lovely balance with lingering flavours of lime zest. Very well done. 100 grams of residual sugar. 9.5% alcohol. $32.95 for a 750ml bottle. Totally delish. 19Mar2004.
Mudbrick Nelson Riesling 2003 Pale straw in colour, it's floral on the nose and steely, crisp and refreshing in the palate then becoming rather honeyed in the palate with citrus and spice. Lemon, baked apple and ginger spices meld together building to a lengthy finish. A wine that grows on you with every sip. "very dangerous on a Saturday", says James. I can see why! Match to Asian-inspired foods, lime and lemon juice, or lemon fish with beurre blanc. 13Oct2003.
Muddy Water Waipara Riesling 'Unplugged' 2003 There's lots of lemon, limes and grapefruit in this medium style wine that is chock full of zest acidity with a layer of honeysuckle nectar on top. A botrytis influence adds a slightly honey flavour to the bitter lemon finish. It's a wine to have chilled on a hot day, and later, when served very chilled, it seems fatter, more viscous, in its texture. 13.4% alc. 36g/L rs. 9Feb2004.
Mudhouse Marlborough Riesling 2003 (sc) Aromas of limes and lemons with a hint of honeysuckle lead into a fresh, fruity, tangy drink with creamy honey, a lightly viscous texture, good palate weight and a crisp, clean, fruity finish with lingering apricot and tropical fruit. 12.5% alc. $18.95. 12Jan2005.
Murdoch James Riesling 2003 (sc) V. pale When very chilled it smells a little like sweaty sauvignon blanc and tastes a bit like it too. Good palate weight and lots of acidity, though not showing many varietal characters except on the finish where dry zingy citrus flavours linger. As it warms up the citrus becomes more obvious and there are fleshy peach flavours on the sweetish, floral talc, perfumed finish. Not great riesling but definitely a lovely summer drink. 9.3% alc. 16.5/20. Chilled Wine Tasting - 6Dec2003.
Neudorf Moutere Nelson Riesling 2003 (sc) Filled with the scent of lime and honeysuckle flowers, this is a weighty riesling with a rich, luscious fruity texture, sweet orange, tart lemon and a spicy zest finish with a hint of ginger. This is the ideal lunchtime, afternoon or aperitif drink. Citrus, nectarine, honey, ginger, lots of bright zesty acidity and a sweetish fruit finish with a touch of botrytis adding a nectar-like richness. 10.5% alc. 9Feb2004.
Nga Waka Martinborough Riesling 2003 (sc) A gorgeously appealing bottle-aged Riesling character on the nose - rich, weighty - all that you expect aged dry Riesling to be. Very dry, almost ethereal - floats on the palate - juice grape / honeysuckle / toasted citrus. Rich, full and long with a spicy zesty zing to the finish. A simply fabulous wine. 19.5/20. 13.5% alc. 14Oct2008.
Olssens Central Otago Riesling 2003 Very crisp, very steely, very dry and bracing with underlying fresh fruit juiciness and a pleasing citrussy aftertaste. 13.8% alc. 5.8g/L rs. 5Oct2004.
Palliser Estate Martinborough Riesling 2003 (sc) It's so laden with fruit it reminds me of 'Juicy Fruit' gum, there's a touch of citrus, a touch of honey and a zesty, spicy, lifted finish. Very dry. 8Dec2003.
Pegasus Bay Waipara Riesling 2003 (sc) Straw gold in colour with lovely aromatics of ginger marmalade that carry through to the palate where strong citrus peel acidity is beautifully balanced by 19 grams of residual sugar. It's a spicy wine with ripe fleshy flavours of apricot and honeysuckle nectar and a rich weighty finish full of ripe fruit and citrus zest. Great mouthfeel and length. 11% alc. $23.95. 21Apr2004.
Peregrine Central Otago Riesling 2003 (sc) Earthy, citrus, heaps of lemon and honey, have it when you've got a cold. 11Nov2003.
Peregrine Rastasburn Riesling 2003 (sc) Floral with a hint of citrus on the nose, later it smells like a lemon and honey drink, very intense and utterly appealing. Mouthfilling with lots of interest there's lemon, lime and apple with a spiced honey flavour, good drying acidity and a musky, perfumed, warm (hot finish). Perhaps a hint of bubblegum too. A really luscious medium style wine with a lingering zesty finish. 12.5% alc. 19/20. Chilled Wine Tasting - 6Dec2003.
Rippon Central Otago Riesling 2003 (sc) Quite rich and full smelling with aromas of lemon honey. A little fat in the palate, oily textured but at this stage seems a little extracted with grimacing acidity, unbalanced sweetness and an oily cheesy character to the finish. 12.5% alc. 11Apr2005.
Rockburn Central Otago Riesling 2003 (c) A dry smelling steely style showing a little petillance in the glass. Earthy with a hint of kero/oil and underlying apple and lemon, with the firm sherbet-like acidity this is a wine to evolve as it shows good length and promise on the finish. 4 g/L rs. 11.5% alc. $24.95. 24Sep2004. Sanctuary Marlborough Riesling 2003 (sc) An ever-reliable medium style of Riesling, lemons and limes open up to sweet fruit on the palate. It's a soft juicy, terrifically balanced style with lots of lemon, a touch of honey, ginger spices and a citrus blossom nuance on the lingering finish. Serve straight from the fridge as a beverage wine this summer, or match to seafood or slightly spicy ethnic. $16.95. 9Oct2003
Seresin Marlborough Riesling 2003 Lemon on the nose with a bitter lemon flavour in palate, this was just a little reductive when first poured. Bone dry to the taste but well balanced to the soft acidity. Steely, apple flavours linger and the finish is long and powerful. Made to evolve in the cellar but already drinkable. 12.5% alc. 4Feb2004.
Seifried Winemakers Collection Nelson Riesling 2003 (sc) This smells dry but tastes sweet, in fact it is luscious in its sweetness. Beautifully balanced with lime, honey, beeswax and apricot, this harmonious late harvest Alsace-like style has plenty of power and alcoholic weight, a dryish finish and lingering flavours of candied peel. A crowd-pleaser of a wine and a perfect wine accompaniment to the Christmas ham. 13.5% alc. $20.95. 22Dec2004.
Shingle Peak Marlborough 2003 (sc) Apples. Rotten apples and lemons. Oily extracted style of riesling. Dry, flat and short. 12% alc. 14.5/20. Chilled Wine Tasting - 6Dec2003.
Spy Valley Dry Marlborough Riesling 2003 (sc) Lime blossom aromas prepare the palate for this dry styled Riesling that has good weight and fruit concentration with apples, limes zest with a touch of gingery spice. Slightly warm with lovely balance and terrific length, dry Riesling fans will absolutely love this. I do. 13% alc. $20.95. 21Apr2004.
Spy Valley Marlborough Riesling 2003 (sc) A more medium wine than the dry. Light bright gold in colour with aromas of lime, talc and just a little toast. Smells dry but a touch of residual sugar gives a lovely balance to the zesty lime and bitter grapefruit flavours with a sprinkling of powdered ginger and lingering baked apples. After the initial burst of flavour it goes on and on - the sign of a good wine. 12.5% alc. $19.95. 4Aug2004.
Te Kairanga Martinborough Riesling 2003 (sc) Steely lemon flavours characterise this dry chalky wine with lots of natural acidity. There's a peaty/wheaty/whisky character to the finish and a toastiness that lingers. ***. 8Dec2003.
Torlesse Canterbury Riesling 2003 (sc) Bright, zesty, crisp, refreshing, fruity with lots of citrus, a touch of honey and spice, and a sweetish finish. On hot days you don’t want anything that's seriously too dry, in fact you don’t want anything that's too serious at all. A wine that can take serious chilling, a wine to drink and enjoy without the fanfare. 12.5%. 22Nov2003.
Two Paddocks Picnic Riesling 2003 (sc) Shy on the nose, a little pithy perhaps, slightly floral. There's a lovely juiciness to the flavour, sweet limey fruits, lime blossom, mandarin, good palate weight and a long juicy finish. Quite a textural wine with good length. 12%. 4Jun2004.
Vidal Marlborough Riesling 2003 (sc) when it is straight fronm the fridge it is crisp and refreshing with dry lemon and honey, as it warms up it's full of tropical fruit with pineapple and a spritzy, zesty backbone and perhaps even a touch of ginger. Good weight and just a beaut Riesling to suit most palates and most occasions. *****. 12.5% alc. 10Jan2004.
Villa Maria Cellar Selection Riesling 2003 - Marlborough (sc) Dry and lemony smelling with honeysuckle overtones then fresh, crisp, sweet juicy fruit in the palate balanced by searing acidity that makes it seem dry. Very tight right now with a grainy texture, the pure waters of a stony mountain stream come to mind. A wine that will develop beautifully in the bottle. 12.5% alc. $21.95/$18.95. 23Mar2005.
Villa Maria Private Bin Marlborough Riesling 2003 (sc) Lime leaf aromas prepare you for the first mouthful, which is like biting into a lemon or a tart granny smith apple, however the upfront acidity is backed up with such a good weight on the palate. It's slightly chalky in texture, a contrast to the mouthfilling flavours of green grapes and citrus with tropical fruit sweetness and feijoas on the finish. Good length, nicely balanced. Vynfields Classic Martinborough Riesling 2003 (sc) A sweeter more perfumed wine than its dry sibling, mouthfilling and fruity with exotic tropical fruits, a musky note adds intrigue while the lingering finish is fruity and flavoursome. Waipara Hills Canterbury/Marlborough 2003 (sc) Quite closed on the nose when chilled but as it watms up it keeps changing. It's floral with summer hay and wild flowers. Lovely and refreshing, good acidity, well-balanced, honeyed, citrus, flowers and lime leaf. Very good. Slight viscosity to the waxy texture. Good length. A touch of bubble gum. Westbrook Marlborough Riesling 2003 (sc) A brilliant pale lemon, a little light on the nose but plenty of refreshing lemon and lime flavour in the palate, it's crisp and earthy with a touch of honey, strong citrus on the finish with a hint of orange marmalade. 9gL rs though plenty of acid makes it seem drier. 13% alc. 6Sep2003.
